Peak Plate Privacy Policy

Overview

Peak Plate is designed so that your information stays with you. Your meal plans, the meals you log, your stats and your calorie goals are stored only on your device and are never uploaded to us or to anyone else. The app has no accounts, does not ask for your name, email or contacts, does not use your location, and contains no advertising, analytics or tracking software.

The plate scanner

The AI plate scanner is the one feature that sends data off your device. When you choose to scan a plate, the photo is sent over an encrypted connection to Peak Plate's own server, hosted in the United States, which forwards it to a third-party artificial-intelligence service to estimate what is on the plate and how many calories it contains. We do not store your photo: it is processed in memory and discarded as soon as the result is returned. Our server logs record only processing times and token counts, never the image.

AI processing by our service provider

The AI service provider processes the photo on our behalf under its commercial terms. It does not use your photo to train its models. It deletes the photo and its analysis within 30 days, and keeps them longer only if its automated safety systems flag them as violating its usage policies, or where the law requires it.

On-device preview

A small preview thumbnail of the scanned photo (about 192 pixels) is saved on your device next to the diary entry so you can recognise the meal later. It is deleted when you delete the entry or when the entry ages out of the seven-day diary history.

Install identifier and rate limiting

To keep the scanner fair and affordable, each installation of Peak Plate generates a random identifier (a UUID) that is not tied to your device, your identity or any account. It is sent with each scan only so we can enforce the scanner's usage limits. Our server also keeps a hashed (one-way scrambled) form of your network address for up to seven days to prevent abuse. Neither can be used to identify you, and neither is shared with anyone.

App integrity checks

Before a scan, the app asks the platform it runs on (Google Play services on Android, Apple's App Attest on iOS) to confirm that it is a genuine, unmodified copy of Peak Plate. This produces a short-lived token that is sent with the scan request so that only the real app can use the scanner. The token contains no personal data; the platform may process device-integrity signals and an anonymous app-installation identifier to issue it. We do not use this for analytics or tracking.

In-app purchases

Peak Plate offers an optional auto-renewing subscription, Peak Plate Pro, with monthly and annual plans. Purchases are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) and managed through a third-party subscription service, and Peak Plate never receives your card or payment details. Purchase records are tied only to the anonymous install identifier described above, not to your name, email or any account. You can manage or cancel the subscription at any time in your App Store or Google Play account settings.

Your choices and contact

Because we keep no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to delete on request; uninstalling the app removes everything stored on your device. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at info@designares.com.
